Scott Higgins is someone you can count on to be involved, vocal and supportive of citizens' preferences. I believe Scott's Park Board and Planning Board experience have prepared him to effectively serve on our town board.
Denis Bilodeau,
Cornelius Town Commissioner
“Scott’s commitment to the Cornelius community was never more evident than during his tenure as the Chair of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission.
Scott’s leadership style continually recognized efforts while motivating and empowering commissioners.
Scott leads by example, and attended the majority of Park & Recreation events and functions year-in, year-out as a visible representative.
Scott finds a way to be everywhere and has an innate talent to connect with people, spending countless hours to build relationships with both citizens and government leadership through genuine interest in their opinions and a wealth of relatable career experience.
Scott's contributions during his tenure as Chair ranged from Town budget input to regionalism efforts with the neighboring Towns of Huntersville and Davidson to support of new Parks & Recreation programming and facilities.
Scott played a measurable role in the resurrection of a bond referendum for the ultimate design and construction of the North Mecklenburg Recreation Center.
Scott’s dedication to parks and recreation and more significantly the Town of Cornelius, was recognized by Mayor Woody Washam in 2019 when awarded one of the first Mayor’s Medallions (coin) and again in 2020 via the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association’s top annual award, the Raburn Jackson Award.
Simply put, Scott elevated the Parks & Recreation Department to be the “Face of Cornelius” and was recognized both state-wide and nationally for its service to citizens”.
Chris Kolkhorst,
Chair, Cornelius Parks and Recreation Commission
I met Scott several years ago when we teamed up to volunteer for Second Harvest. I learned quickly that he has a great deal of life experience in supporting and mentoring others. He is passionate about volunteering to help out in the community and loves bike riding. His work on the Cornelius Parks and Recreation Commission was stellar. He worked tirelessly to improve the hiking/biking trails by developing the Emerald Necklace for the town. I feel fortunate to have gained a friend who is such an active advocate for all of us in Cornelius.

"Scott Higgins' efforts for the betterment of Cornelius and its citizens are remarkable. As a member of the Cornelius Parks, Arts, Recreation & Culture Commission, I served for 5+ years with Scott. The commitment of his personal time was instrumental in several strategic and impactful goals for the town, including the Northern Mecklenburg Recreation Center and the Cain Center for the Arts. Scott’s engagement with Cornelius and Mecklenburg County representatives provides him with hands-on experience regarding the challenges and opportunities facing Cornelius.
Please consider supporting Scott's candidacy for the Cornelius town board. He is an exceptionally qualified candidate and will work tirelessly on behalf of all the residents of our great town".
